Who manages EASI?
EaSI is managed directly by the European Commission. It brings together three EU programmes managed separately between 2007 and 2013: PROGRESS, EURESand Progress Microfinance. As of January 2014, these programmes form the three axesof EaSI. They support: the modernisation of employment and social policies with the PROGRESS axis;
Who supports the EASI strand?
The EaSI strand is supported by the EaSI Technical Working Group under the ESF+ Committee, which is composed of the European Commission and government representatives of the Member States, as well as of third countries associated to the strand.
How effective is the EASI programme?
The EaSI Programme is considered strong in facilitating effective and inclusive information sharing, mutual learning and dialogue on the EU policies in the target fields. The opinion on the involvement of relevant policy- and decision-makers in the debate on EU employment and social policy and legislation remained positive among stakeholders.
What does EASI mean for EU citizens?
Also with EaSI, EURES aims to try to make it easier for the 600,000 EU citizens who live in one EU member state and commute to work in another. With cross-border commuting, citizens have to deal with two different legal systems, two different tax system and other practical issues that come with working abroad.
