The underlayer of clothing was made of linen while the outer layers could be wool, a combination of linen & wool, hemp, nettle cloth, and (for the wealthy) silk & cloth of gold.
What did people wear in the 13th century?
A robe, tunic, or kirtle was usually worn over the shirt or doublet.
As with other outer garments, it was generally made of wool.
Over this, a man might also wear an over-kirtle, cloak, or a hood.
Servants and working men wore their kirtles at various lengths, including as low as the knee or calf.
What did rich people wear in the 1300s?
Towards the end of the Middle Ages, men of the wealthy classes sported hose and a jacket, often with pleating or skirting, or a tunic with a surcoat.
Women wore flowing gowns and elaborate headwear, ranging from headdresses shaped like hearts or butterflies to tall steeple caps and Italian turbans.

Around 1450, the dress of northern Europe developed a low V-neck that showed a glimpse of the square-necked kirtle.
The neckline could be filled in with a sheer linen partlet.
