  • Quels sont les avantages du maïs domestique par rapport au maïs sauvage ?

    Plus de sensibilité aux événements climatiques et aux ravageurs car les grains sont tous à maturité (donc vulnérables) en même temps.
    Difficulté plus importante pour les grains de tomber au sol.
    Absence de cupule (grains nus).
    Facilité d'utilisation alimentaire : Plus facile à moudre.

  • De ce fait la dissémination des grains est impossible, la plante ne peut donc plus se reproduire à l'état sauvage.
    Les grains de Téosinte tombent sur le sol, ils sont mangés mais la cupule résiste aux enzymes digestives, ce qui permet leur dissémination.
