In Act 3 of The Crucible, three men, including John Proctor, go to the court in an effort to reason with the judge about the charges against their wives.
Marry Warren accompanies them and tells the judge she and all the others were only pretending to see spirits and know about witchcraft.The central idea of Act 2 is the continuing accusations of witchcraft in Salem.
Now, respectable women are being falsely charged because Abigail and the other girls are accusing so many others of practicing witchcraft.
More and more people are being arrested and the witch hunts are widening.
What happened in Act I of The Crucible?
In Act 1, a minister named Parris catches his daughter Betty and his niece Abigail dancing in the forest.
Other girls participate as well, along with an enslaved woman from the Barbados named Tituba.
After he accuses them of witchcraft, Betty takes to her bed and appears to be unconscious.
