chord inversions piano worksheet
Piano chord inversions are the different ways you can arrange the notes in a chord.
For instance, if you play three notes (a triad), there are three inversions you can play for that chord.
If you play four notes, there are four chord inversions.
If you play five notes, there are five possible chord inversions.
How do you invert chords on piano?
Once you have a root chord, take the bottom most note and move it one octave up.
That will be the first inversion.
Move the bottom most note up one octave again and you'll have your second inversion.
What is the 21 inversion exercise?
Jonny's 21 Inversion Exercise is an innovative and practical way to practice diatonic chords and their inversions.
Why 21 inversions? Well, since each major key has 7 diatonic triads and each triad has 3 positions, this exercise covers all 21 possible diatonic triad shapes.
