COP21 or the 21st Conference of Parties led to a new international climate agreement, the Paris Agreement, which applies in every country.
It aims to limit global warming to 1.5-2°C compared to pre-industrial levels, in line with the recommendations of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).Out of larger, industrialized countries, the European Union and the UK as well as South Africa are currently the only places where the 2° Celsius goal is expected to be met, while it is projected to be missed in the U.S., Japan and Canada.
