  • What is degeneracy of LPP?

    Degeneracy in a linear programming problem is said to occur when a basic feasible solution contains a smaller number of non-zero variables than the number of independent constraints when values of some basic variables are zero and the Replacement ratio is same.
  • What is infeasibility in LPP?

    A linear programming problem is said to be infeasible if there is no solution that satisfies all the constraints. It represents a state of inconsistency in the set of constraints.
  • What is infeasibility in simplex method?

    1. Unbounded Solution: In the simplex method, if in the pivot column all the entries are negative or zero when choosing to leave the variable then the solution is unbounded. 2. Infeasible Solution: In the simplex method, if artificial variables are present in the basis, then the solution obtained is infeasible.
  • An infeasible problem is a problem that has no solution while an unbounded problem is one where the constraints do not restrict the objective function and the objective goes to infinity. Both situations often arise due to errors or shortcomings in the formulation or in the data defining the problem.
