What is dig DNA labeling & detection kit?
The DIG DNA Labeling and Detection Kit uses digoxigenin (DIG), a steroid hapten to label DNA probes for hybridization and subsequent color detection by enzyme immunoassay. DIG-labeled DNA probes are generated according to the random primed labeling technique.
What is dig labeling?
DIG labeling supports posthybridization detection by chemiluminescence or by formation of an insoluble color precipitate directly on the filter membrane. This method is also well respected for in situ hybridization applications ( Robbins et al., 1991; Crabb et al., 1992; Schröder et al., 2000 ).
What is a digoxigenin labeling system?
The digoxigenin–anti-digoxigenin labeling system uses digoxigenin (DIG), a cardenolide steroid isolated from Digitalis plants (Martin et al., 1990 ). A nucleotide triphosphate analog containing the digoxigenin moiety ( Figure 3.3) is incorporated into DNA by nick translation or random primer labeling.
Does dig labeling interfere with biotinylation?
As with biotinylation, DIG labeling does not interfere with biological activity, and probes so labeled are stable at –20° for at least 1 year after labeling.
