glucose cell culture grade

  • What is the grade of glucose in cell culture?

The amount of glucose in cell culture formulations ranges from 1 g/L (5.5 mM) to as high as 10 g/L (55 mM). Many classical media are supplemented with approximately 5.5 mM D-glucose which approximates normal blood sugar levels in vivo.
  • What is the normal glucose level in cells?

The average fasting blood glucose concentration (no meal within the last 3 to 4 hours) is between 80 to 90 mg/dl. On average, postprandial blood glucose may rise to 120 to 140 mg/dl, but the body's feedback mechanism returns the glucose to normal within 2 hours.
  • How do you measure glucose levels in cell culture?

GlucCell glucose monitoring system enables you to quickly measure and record media glucose levels during cell culture using disposable test strips. These come in packs of 50 test strips. Insert the strip, add a sample droplet and read the result in 15 sec on the large numeric display.
  • The original formulation of DMEM contains 1.0 g/L. This product - DMEM High Glucose - has an increased glucose content of 4.5 g/L and is supplemented with L-glutamine.
