What is the Adobe lens profile downloader?
For clarification, the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader is a tool for downloading lens profiles submitted by Adobe customers. Profiles available in the Downloader are not officially supported by Adobe. As Jeff points out (Thanks, Jeff!), you can use the DNG Converter to install official lens profiles for use with Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop.
How do I enable lens profile corrections?
The profiles are based on Exif metadata that identifies the camera and lens that captured the photo, and the profiles compensate accordingly. In the nested Profile tab of the Lens Corrections tab, select Enable Lens Profile Corrections.
How do I adjust lens corrections in Lightroom?
If you want to go into more options to modify or fine-tune corrections, Lightroom provides additional tabs under the Lens Corrections sub-module. The “Profile” tab is the second tab after “Basic” and it contains fields that allow you to pick the lens of choice and apply custom distortion and vignetting levels, as seen in the below image:
What is a lens profile in Photoshop?
Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Camera Raw plug-in include numerous lens profiles, which you can use to correct common lens aberrations such as barrel and pincushion geometric distortion. Most lens profiles also correct for vignette, where the corners of an image appear darker than the rest of an image.
