    1/3 Octave Band Filters are very similar in nature to the Octave Band filters described above. The difference is that each of the Octave Bands is split into three, giving a more detailed description of the frequency content of the noise.

What are the advantages of serial octave band filters?

    The advantage of serial octave band filters is that the meter has only one filter circuit, keeping the cost and power consumption down. These filters can be used for many applications, but in particular they are clearly used to identify the frequency content of the noise and to help you to control and reduce the noise.

How do I apply a bank of octave-band filters?

    To apply a bank of octave-band or fractional octave-band filters: Create the octaveFilterBank object and set its properties. Call the object with arguments, as if it were a function. Why does each octave of a filter have a different length?

    Each ?lter has a differentlength and a different center frequency. The lengths have to be different because the bandwidths ofthe octaves are different. In fact, the bandwidth of each octave is twice that of the next lower octave. For each ?lter, determine the lengthLthat is required to get the correct bandwidth.
