What is a TGV Réseau?
Based off of the successful TGV “Atlantique” sets, which were built in the late 80s to serve the LGV line sporting the same name, the TGV “Réseau” was ordered in the 1990s to bolster services on the entire SNCF® LGV network. A total of 90 were built as a mixture of dual and triple-voltage units and 80 entered service with SNCF.
What countries does the TGV connect to?
The TGV system extends to neighbouring countries, either directly to Italy, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany, or through TGV-derivative networks linking France to Switzerland (Lyria), to Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands (Thalys), and to the United Kingdom (Eurostar).
What are the black lines on a TGV train?
The black lines are standard tracks, on which TGV trains operate in mixed traffic at speeds ranging between 160 km/h and 220 km/h. Note on this map that only about 25% of the total trackage covered by TGV service is on dedicated high speed lines.
