Why did the number of French expats drop in 2020?
This number was 5.1 % lower than the figure in 2019, which made 2020 the third year in a row that the number of French expats dropped, after 2019 (-1.5%) and 2018 (-11%). 2020’s drop can almost certainly be explained largely by the Covid-19 pandemic and its associated restrictions, as well as the reduced opportunities for intentional travel.
