Refused PIP for mental health

Can I claim PIP for mental health issues?

If you are currently in the process of applying for PIP due to a mental health issue you will be contacted by the DWP. If a decision was made on your claim before the new guidance was implemented and you are affected by the change then your claim will subsequently be identified and payments will be backdated.

How many people have been affected by the PIP review?

As a result of the ruling the Government was required to review all 1.6 million cases of people who need support from PIP to check who might be eligible for more money. Around 220,000 of the 1.6million people receiving PIP were expected to benefit from the ruling at the time primarily due to their mental health.

What happens if you don’t receive Pip?

If you don’t currently receive the mobility component or the standard rate you are entitled to make a new claim. You should be aware, however, that your PIP could go up or down based on the new assessment, so it is recommended you seek advice before starting this process. How much PIP could I be entitled to?
