The maximum weekly payment rate of Carer's Allowance will increase by €12. There will be proportionate increases for qualified adults and for people getting a reduced rate. The weekly full rate for a qualified child will increase to: €42 for children under 12 years of age. €50 for children aged 12 years and over.

If the person you are caring for is under 16 you must be getting Domiciliary Care Allowance to qualify for Carer's Allowance. Domiciliary Care Allowance is a monthly payment made to the carer of a child with a severe disability who lives at home. When your child reaches 16 years of age he or she may qualify for Disability Allowance.
