The ETH. It goes by several names, but it's not that well known outside of Switzerland. Can you give us a bit of context about why is the institution important, both in Switzerland and in a global context?
Well, if you're lucky enough to be at ETH Zurich and you have a full contract as a PhD student, you get up to 80,000 CHF (ca. 82,000 USD). On the lowest, standard 60% contract, it's still 50,000 CHF these days. Mind you, it’s salary, not a scholarship/stipend, so you'll have to pay some Swiss taxes on it.
The university is an attractive destination for international students thanks to low tuition fees of 730 CHF per semester, PhD and graduate salaries that are amongst the world's highest, and a world-class reputation in academia and industry. There are currently 22,200 students from over 120 countries, of which 4,180 are pursuing doctoral degrees.
