Floriculture is an experiential learning program Floriculture is an interdisciplinary science that is both challenging and rewarding Floriculture Crop production Environment management Plant physiology Technology & Automation
Floriculture scientists throughout the world do this work. Floriculture crops include cut flowers and cut cultivated greens, bedding plants (garden flowers or annuals, and perennials, houseplants ( foliage plants and flowering potted plants ). These plants are produced in ground beds, flower fields or in containers in a greenhouse.
This chapter gives a description of the major flower crops—roses, chrysanthemums, carnations, gerberas, tulips and lilies, including their origin, breeding, environmental requirements, cultivation practices, harvesting and post-harvest care. It also gives a short introduction to the wide range, production and use of bedding and balcony plants.
The global Floriculture market size is estimated to be worth US$ 50040 million in 2022 and is forecast to be a readjusted size of US$ 58030 million by 2028 with a compound annual growth rate of 2.5% during the review period.
