Gretel & Hansel (also known as Gretel & Hansel: A Grim Fairy Tale) is a 2020 dark fantasy horror film based on the German folklore tale "Hansel and Gretel" by the Brothers Grimm. The film is directed by Oz Perkins, and produced by Fred Berger, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Dan Kagan, with a screenplay by Rob Hayes.
The film's theatrical run ended on April 25, with a total gross of $225.7 million including $55.7 million domestically. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters was Paramount's fourth highest-grossing film of 2013, following new graphic novel and franchise entries: World War Z, Star Trek Into Darkness, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, respectively.
Hansel and Gretel's mother was the great white witch Adrianna who married a farmer. She performed the protective spell against black magic on Hansel and Gretel right before their father sent them into the woods. On the night of the last Blood Moon, Muriel planned to use the heart of the grand white witch - which was Gretel; to complete her potion.
