BTEC Engineering
Unit 1 Topic : Engineering Mathematic Principles
Here are some maths tasks that will help you brush up the skills and topics you need to know from
GCSE Mathematics to be able to cope with the level of maths involved in the first unit you will study
in Engineering. If you have studied at Higher tier GCSE Mathematics this should all be revision. If you
have studied at Foundation Tier some of this content may be new for you but it will be worth
spending the time to try and get your heads around it now so that you will find it a little easier in
September.
Once you have completed these revision tasks, give the assessment paper a go and bring in your

have the formula booklet in front of you as well!
Unit 3: Product Design & Manufacture
In addition to the maths tasks, we would ask you to also focus on your design and manufacturing
skills from being able to interpret a client brief, analyse statistical data and sketch design ideas. Unit
3 requires a lot of theory knowledge, writing and sketching/technical drawing. A full mock exam
paper has been included to give you some context of what the exam involves. It is an 11 hour exam (3 hours research and 8 hour exam paper). You are being asked to focus on Activity 2 and 3 only.
Activity 3 sketches should be completed on plain paper if possible. Ğ͛ĚƌĞĐŽŵŵĞŶĚƉƌŝŶƚŝŶŐŽƵƚ

with your name and activity number. Once you have completed these activities, please remember to bring them in on Induction Day for us to review them as a team. All of the topics below will help you complete Activity 2 and 3 although
