Assistant or Associate Professor of Biostatistics [Contract Academic staff]. This contractual
position is for three years and does not lead to tenure. It can be renewed based on performance and availability of funds. The start date is flexible but should ideally be before the Spring 2018.McGill University is one of Canada͛s leading uniǀersities, and the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health is home to one of the largest concentration of doctoral-
level biostatisticians, with internationally recognized research programmes in topics such as causal inference, Bayesian methods, non-parametric methods, survival analysis and statistical genetics. The Department is one of the top academic units for biomedical statistics in the world, and offers a vibrant research environment.The Department of Diagnostic Radiology regroups 3 institutions, the McGill University Health Center, the Jewish General Hospital and St. Mary͛s Hospital with 65 faculty members, 55
residents and 29 fellows. It encompasses all radiology subspecialties in its provision of care andit is a centre of referral for the proǀince of Yuebec. The Department͛s research focuses on cancer
imaging, with a special interest in new imaging techniques for cancer detection and staging, as well as methods to assess early tumor response to treatment. Since 2014 research has focused
on Artificial Intelligence to reduce diagnostic errors by providing intelligent assistance to
radiologists and physicians.Job Duties
The successful candidate will have potential and proven ability to develop an internationally recognized research program in Biostatistics, as it applies to Diagnostic Radiology, a demonstrated ability to obtain grants for their own research or to contribute to the building of successful research projects. Faculty members are expected to develop a strong research program and to supervise graduatetrainees. The candidate will be edžpected to teach graduate leǀel students in the Master͛s and
PhD programs, in Biostatistics, Epidemiology and for trainees in the Department of Radiology.Qualifications and Education requirements
Candidates must have a doctorate in statistics or biostatistics and relevant research experience in biostatistics. Necessary qualifications for the position include evidence of research productivity (peer-reviewed publications) and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching.JOB DETAILS
