Geophysics
The Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Science (EOAS) at the Florida State University (FSU) seeks a Solid Earth Geophysicist for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank. The ideal candidate will investigate ch that informs on the inner workings of the Earth and planetary interiors ranging from the crust to core and the interactions with the exosphere. The research specialization could include but is not limited to experimental rock mechanics, geodynamics, global geophysics, seismology, paleomagnetism, planetary geophysics. Candidates must hold a doctorate from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in Earth Science or a related field. The appointee is expected to develop and maintain a vigorous externally funded research program and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Successful candidates can demonstrate evidence of a commitment to advancing equity and inclusion through their research, teaching, and/or service. EOAS has 40 faculty members, approximately 140 graduate students, a diverse undergraduate population, and grants graduate degrees in Geology, Meteorology, Oceanography and Environmental Sciences.
