Summarize

The heat press is engineered to imprint a design or graphic onto a substrate by using heat and pressure for a preset period of time. While heat presses are often used to apply designs to fabrics, such as t-shirts, they can also be used to imprint designs on mugs, plates, jigsaw puzzles and other products. Using sublimation ink, the pattern/image is rst printed onto sublimation paper, before it is transferred onto the substrate. Highly effective patterns and great effects can be achieved through this technique

Process of a heat press

Related equipment

• Camera or scanner Obtain images directly from your camera, scanner or computer. • Computer Use a computer with photo processing software to covert the images to the required size, color and shape. • Ink Heat presses use a special sublimation ink to transfer images onto mugs, etc. You can use normal dye ink for T-shirt transfers. • Continuous ink system (CISS) If you use the transfer sublimation ink, ensure that you use the separate continuous ink system. • Printer If using a printer, use EPSON ink-jet printer inks only. For mug printing, use the settings as shown below. • Paper Use heat transfer paper for imprinting onto mugs, plates and metal plate transfers. Ensure that the image is mirrored. Use the light T-Shirt transfer paper for printing on light coloured T-Shirts. Ensure that the image is mirrored. Use the dark T-Shirt transfer paper for printing on dark

T-shirts. Ensure that the image is not mirrored.

• Machine There are a series of heat press machines, designed for different sublimation applications ie. mug press, plate press, cap press, T-shirt press, combo press and so on. All the machines' operations are almost the same, with just temperature and baking time variations.

Basic preparation before using

• Before you use the machine, please check whether the power supply conforms to the rated voltage of the machine. The unit needs to be earthed via a 3 pin plug. • When you replace the burned heat press parts, it is important to rst shut down the unit completely and disconnect the mains supply. • Please use insulated heat protective gloves when you need to replace the top of heat press under the high temperature conditions. • Also, please insert the heat shield to prevent damage as a result of the high temperatures. • Do not insert any sharp objects in the heat press that could damage the heater block. • During use, be very careful not to allow your body to touch any of the hot surfaces which could result in burns. • During use, do not touch the pressure spring which could result in injuries. . • Do not apply excessive force when pressing down on the press. By adjusting the pressure handle properly, you will prevent damage to the unit. • Do not allow unsupervised access to the machine even whilst not in use as some parts might still cause burns or injuries. • When changing the heating element, ensure that the power plug is disconnected. After changing the element - re-connect the power plug into the control box. • Do not use the heating pad for any other use other than what it was designed for. NOTE: Before using your machine, you will need to change the temperature from Farenheit to Celcius. To do this: Turn ON the machine. HOLD the temp + & Temp button together; then press the mode key onces. Here you will see if it is F (Farenheit) or C (Celcius). Use the TEMP button to change it. After this is done, press the mode key twice and you are ready to start working.
