iThe export "Movie with Combined Subititles" (burn subititles into a movie) has been completely rewrittten to use Telestream Media Framework technology. You can export a movie with burn-in subititles to H.264 .mov or Apple ProRes

422 .mov formats. If you need to export a movie with burned-in subititles to a diffferent format,

you can transcode the results using Telestream Switch, Vantage, Telestream Cloud, or other video conversion tools. (MACCAP-1701) iAll TTML-based exports (e.g. IMSC, SMPTE-TT, etc.) now allow you to set the xml:lang language tag to indicate the subititle language in the header of the document, both in the GUI and CLI exports (MACCAP-789, MACCAP-570)

New Features in Version 7.0

iTimed Text Speech & Transcripition Mode - Automaitic Transcripition using speech-to-text technology The Timed Text Speech feature in MacCapition will create a text transcript of speech in a video and populate it directly into the capitioning project with the correct itiming.

© 2018 Telestream, LLC 10/5/2018

MacCaption The Transcripition Mode can be used to rapidly ifind and correct any mistakes in the transcript, whether it comes from Timed Text Speech or any other text that you have loaded into the project. MacCapition uses the Timed Text Speech service of Telestream Cloud to analyze the audio track of a video ifile and transmit text and itiming informaition directly into the text edit cells as it becomes available. Timed Text Speech currently works with English, French, Brazilian

Portuguese, and Spanish language video content.

Timed Text Speech processing operates from servers in Telestream Cloud. You need to set up a Telestream Cloud account to use Timed Text Speech, and when using Timed Text Speech, MacCapition must be connected to the Internet in order to create the transcript. Only the audio porition is transmittted to Telestream Cloud, so your Internet speed only needs to accommodate that scope of ifile size. For more informaition on how to use Timed Text Speech & Transcripition Mode, please refer to the Quick Start Guide and the User Guide available via the Help menu in the sotftware.

Known Issues in 7.0.6

iWhen using Timed Text Speech on Mac OS 10.11 or older, and Safari has not been updated to the latest version, opening links to the Telestream Cloud website may result in a blank or broken

page. This can be ifixed by updaiting to the latest version of Safari or by switching to a diffferent

default web browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox). (MACCAP-1574) iWhen running at the minimum 1280x720 or lower screen resoluition, some UI controls may not be visible on the screen, for example the buttton at the botttom of the screen which toggles between Capition and Subititle mode. You can sitill toggle between capition/subititle modes via the Display menu. iWhen using a Macbook with a 13" Reitina display with the display set to "Larger Text" (larger than normal scaling), the efffecitive screen resoluition is lower than 1280x720 and thus does not meet the minimum screen resoluition requirement for running MacCapition. This can be ifixed by

going to System Preferences > Display, and seièitièing the resoluition to "Best for display." Another

opition is to use an external monitor that meets the minimum required screen resoluition. iWhen imporiting certain EBU-STL ifiles containing right-to-letft Hebrew, text may import number sequences in right-to-letft order (opposite of intended) resuliting in reversed numbers. (MACCAP-1048)

iWhen using Ruby subititle formaièitièing, languages other than Japanese are not oiÌifiÌicially

supported. (MACCAP-1023)

© 2018 Telestream, LLC 10/5/2018

MacCaption iUsing the "Add to File" export only works with input .MOV target ifiles that are on HFS+ formattted local storage devices or AFP mounted network shares. Using Add to File on ifiles stored on non-Apple network shares or other types of storage systems may result in invalid outputs. (MACCAP-1029) iWhen using the Ruby annotaition dialog window, cut/copy/paste of Ruby annotaition text does not work using keyboard shortcuts. The workaround is to right-click with the mouse or trackpad and use the context menu to cut/copy/paste. (MACCAP-1059) iWhen copying and pasiting a block of capition cells, MacCapition may paste the previously selected text content of the system clipboard. Users must specify the inserition point by changing focus to the Text Panel itself (EX. Click below the itimecode ifields) and not the Text (Ediiting) Cell within the panel. See p.31 of the User Guide for Text Panel details. (MACCAP- 1067)
iWhen in Display as Capitions mode and using the default display font, music notes that are italicized will appear in italics in the movie preview area, but may appear as un-italicized in the text ediiting area. This is because the default display font for the text ediiting area does not include an italicized version of the music note character. A workaround is to change the display font via Display > Font. Changing this display font only afffects the text ediiting area of the MacCapition window; it has no efffect on the capition/subititle font used for rendering the preview display or for exports. (MACCAP-1041) iImporiting subititles TTML ifiles when in Display as Capitions mode causes MacCapition to atttempt

to re-format the subititles to ifit closed capitioning rules (e.g. max of 32 characters per line). To

prevent unwanted reformaièitièing of the subititles, please switch to Display as Subititles mode prior

to imporiting a subititles TTML ifile. (MACCAP-1247, MACCAP-1292) iDisconneciting a disk while MacCapition is wriiting to it during an export may cause MacCapition to crash or stop responding. If exporiting to a network shared folder or removable hard drive such that the drive could become disconnected during export, it is recommended to save your project prior to export to avoid any potenitial loss of data. (MACCAP-1127) iMacCapition does not support imporiting, exporiting, or previewing projects with itime codes greater than 24 hours or which roll over from 23:59:00:00 to 00:00:00:00. You will need to manually treat the segment up to 23:59 separately from the segment atfter 00:00. (MACCAP- 1155)
iWhen imporiting and exporiting IMSC 1.0 Subititles, font outlines are limited to 10% of the base font size per the speciificaition. Font outline sizes larger than 10% will be truncated to 10%. (MACCAP-1228)

© 2018 Telestream, LLC 10/5/2018

MacCaption iWarning: The "Encode 708 capitions for 16x9" opition in Capition > Encode Preferences is intended only for tesiting consumer TV sets and set-top box hardware. This opition should not be selected when delivering to professional broadcast mechanisms and faciliities. (MACCAP-1310)

iWhen seièitièing a capition horizontal posiition and then clicking in the itime code ifield to edit the

itime code, pressing Undo will not undo the change to horizontal posiition. (MACCAP-1504) iUsers have reported that MacCapition cannot embed capitions into XDCAM .MXF ifiles created in Vantage with the opition "Preserve SMPTE 436 Ancillary Data Track" in the MPEG-2 secition of the Flip XDCAM encoder" enabled. Workaround: Transcode the ifile in Vantage without this opition enabled and then insert capitions using MacCapition; or, perform the capition inserition using Vantage instead of MacCapition. (MACCAP-1500) iWhen exporiting SMPTE-TT with PNGs and a movie is loaded in the preview window, the resoluition of the movie will be used to set the SMPTE-TT document extent, even if a diffferent resoluition was speciified in the Subititle Resoluition drop-down menu. Workaround: If you need to export SMPTE-TT with PNGs with a diffferent resoluition than the open movie, you can close the movie prior to export and select the desired Subititle Resoluition via the drop-down menu, or, load a movie which is the same resoluition that you want to export. (MACCAP-1535)
