Meditation(RightEffort,RightMindfulness,RightConcentration) •Buddhistsrecognizethatsomeformofspiritualpracticeisnecessarybywhich wecangetbeyondourusualwayofthinkingandlookingattheworld. •Buddhistsdobelieve,becausetheyhaveexperienced,thatthroughvarious formsofmeditation,itispossibleto'wakeup'-toexperienceadeeper awareness oftheInterͲBeingthatisourlife. B. Step2:Letyoursufferingbeheldinthewarmthandthe
compassionthatisgiventoyouinyourInterͲBeing. •Youareinstructednottohavecompassionforyoursuffering-asifyouhave todoit.Rather,youareaskedtoletyoursufferingbeheldbyaRealitythatis bothyouandgreaterthanyou-theCompassionofInterͲBeing. •ARealitythatyouoftencanfeel throughthepresenceoffriendsandloved oneswhoarewithyouinyoursuffering.
CONCLUSION:SowhatadvicedoesBuddhism
offerfordealingwithsuffering?•Firstrecognizeit,acceptit,letitbe,shakehandswith it. •Andthen,letitbeheldinthewarmthandcompassion oftheInterͲconnectingHolySpirit. •Andknow,too,thatwhenyourespondtothe sufferingsofothersandholdtheminthewarmthof yourcompassion, youwillfeelyouronenesswiththis connectingHolySpirit,holdingyouasitholdsothers throughyou.
