THE CONTRIBUTION OF BYZANTIUM IN ASTRONOMY AND
COSMOLOGY II. EARLY BYZANTINE EMPIRE
In the present paper is analyzed the work of St. Gregory of Nyssa, Epiphanius of Salamis, Asterius of Amaseia, Cyril I of Alexandria, Synesius, Caesarius of Nazianzus, Nemesius (the bishop of Emesa in Syria). Also, the monk Dionysius Exiguus, who introduced the BC/AD chronology, with emphasis in their contribution to the sciences, especially astronomy. In particular, we present the cosmological views of Gregory of Nyssa and we comment upon them, as he is considered a great cosmologist and natural philosopher.
