I. Summary

Study materials are important for

success in state credentialing exams. These exams allow students the opportunity to subsitute teach or teach full time in their own classrooms. These materials are important for undergraduate and graduate students. It also supports students from every college. There are single subject exams that allow students to seek credentials in single subject areas such as math, science, music, art, business, etc. These exams are necessary for anybody wishing to teach general education, single subject classes, or special education and resource classes. These materials will contribute to student success all over the campus.

II. Objective

Part of the job of A.S.I.

college representatives is to look at their college and understand the needs of its students. One of the needs that has become evident is the need for up to date, study materials for the students in the Charter College of Education who are seeking a credential. This proposal is seeking to support undergraduate and post bachelorette and graduate students from various colleges across campus.

III. Mission

The mission of this

proposal is to provide current, supportive study materials for credential students.

IV. Description

The funding would provide

California Basic Skills Requirement Exam (Cbest), California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET), and Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA) study materials for loan from the CCOE.

V. Management

ASI will pay for books and turn over management of books to Agustin Cervantes, Director of Student Services within CCOE. He has agreed to manage the loaning and upkeep of the books in collaboration with credentialing program advisors and the Urban Learning Program.

VI. Marketing

CCOE will take care of disbursement of information about the new resources.

VII. Budget

VIII. Guidelines

(List any guidelines provided by A.S.I., any entity, and the University) Books will be provided for students at loan free of charge. Parameters following how the books

are to be loaned, loss prevention, advertisement of resources, and storage are to be left to Agustin

Cervantes and CCOE.

IX. Criteria

(Who is benefiting? (HINT: it should be benefiting students of Cal State LA)) Students within the CCOE will benefit primarily from this resource since many students within this college require these materials to study for their CBEST, CSET, and RICA exams. Students who come from other colleges as well will benefit. Many people major in specific subject areas (math, science, various languages, etc.) and are not students of CCOE, but want to get a credential to teach. These students come from various colleges and different areas of study.

X. Survey

Strong connections with Agustin will be maintained regarding the testing materials by future CCOE students. He and a few other staff members will manage the books and have the ability to monitor student needs and questions with the materials.
