The Department wishes to appoint a Professor in the field of Analysis, to be interpreted in its broadest sense.
Research in Partial Differential Equations at Bath comprises a self-sustaining group with activities across a
broad front. For the p resent position it is intended to be less prescriptive as to area and applications are
sought both from candidates who might add to existing strength in Analysis and from those who might extend
it into new realms. A non-exhaustive list of suitable fields would include Harmonic Analysis, Geometric
Measure Theory, Operator Theory, Discrete Analysis, Ergodic Theory, Analytic Number Theory, Stochastic
Analysis or the interface between Analysis and Geometry, Soliton Theory or Mathematical Physics. In addition to Analysis there is active research in Differential Geometry and Algebra including Algebraic
Geometry and Group Theory.
Salary and start date, between 1st January and 1st October 2012, are negotiable.
