Next, apply online through our simple and user-friendly application process. Successful applicants will then be invited to interview within 2 weeks. Applicants will have an informal conversation with a course tutor and members of the admissions and apprenticeship team (if applying for an apprenticeship). We will ask about motivations for coming to Oldham College and for undertaking the chosen course. Candidates will need to provide evidence of qualifications such as GCSEs, A Levels, BTECs, course specific qualifications or portfolios (for design courses specifically). Candidates should be able to demonstrate at interview that they are punctual, reliable and committed for the duration of the course they apply for. Some courses may require an initial assessment to gauge an applicant's suitability for the course. Our Pathways and Skills for Life and Work
courses are designed to provide students with the skills required to progress onto
Level 1 programmes, work or traineeships.
We focus on employability qualifications,
maths and English and provide experience in vocational options to inform our students' choices about future opportunities.
Our Preparing for Life and Work course
is targeted towards empowering our Special and Educational Needs (SEND) students with independence, purpose and self-sustainability.
Practical workshops best prepare students
with behaviours and communication skills required in the workplace. We teach independent living, community inclusion and wellbeing among other subjects.
This enables our students to progress onto
Level 1 Supported Internships- a meaningful
work opportunity split into three rotations.
For students who have an Educational,
Health and Care plan, we work with them
and their parent/carer to develop a worthwhile, tangible and sustainable development plan.
