    For award of the AFESR w/GB, members must be/have been assigned to an Air Expeditionary Force Plan Identification or on Contingency Exercise Deployment orders and have been receiving IDP/HFP. Aircrew members who engage in combat action must be assigned on aeronautical orders in direct support of a combat zone.

    Criteria: The Air Force Expeditionary Ribbon (AFESR) is an award of the U.S. Air Force that can be bestowed upon any Air Force personnel who complete a standard contingency deployment. These deployments are defined as 45 consecutive or 90 non-consecutive days in a deployed status.

  • What is the difference between Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon and with gold border?

    The ribbon with a gold border is awarded to members who met the criteria for the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon (Basic) and were engaged in conducting or supporting combat operations in a combat zone.
