Chers membres,

part des points saillants de la saison 2013 ± 2014. Pilotée entre autres par MM. Serge Bourassa et Jean-François Morand, la réalisation de ce centre à la fine pointe de la technologie fait bien des envieux et ce, à juste titre. bénévoles.

La 2e édition de la Coupe Caledonia, axée sur une compétition inter-régionale, a réuni 59 équipes venant de

Boucherville et de VMR pour nous avoir prêté leurs installations et merci à Marco Ferraro et Marc-André Robitaille

compétiteurs en seront des ambassadeurs. bravo.

Merci à tous les comités organisateurs et bénévoles de tous nos championnats, de Série Élite. Vous avez permis à

nos athlètes de performer à la pleine mesure de leurs talents.

Au niveau organisationnel, le nouveau site internet fonctionne bien et le nombre de nos amis Facebook augmente.

Dear members,

On behalf of my fellow Board members, it is my pleasure to present a review of the 2013 ± 2014 season. It began with the inauguration of the completely rebuilt Grand-Mère curling centre. A project driven by Jean-François Morand and Serge Bourassa, this facility, with its latest technological innovations, is the envy of the province.

Then, the Scotties Tournament of Hearts was held for the second time in Montreal. Those who attended the games

were impressed at how well the Maurice-Richard arena hosted such an event. Congratulations to the host

committee, Cathy Hughes, Francine Poisson and Kevin Aladdin and to over 275 volunteers for a job well done.

Based on inter-regional competition, the second edition of the Caledonia Cup gathered 59 teams from all over the

province. This year, the Estrie region won the Cup. Heartfelt thanks go out to both Boucherville and TMR for

lending us their facilities and to both Marco Ferraro and Marc-André Robitaille for having brought back a great idea

and making it something to continue building upon. Our best ambassadors for this event are those that

participated, so we hope they spread the word.

Finally, there was the Canadian wheelchair championship, held at Centre Gilles-Chabot in Boucherville. Having had

the privilege of being a volunteer, I appreciated on a first hand basis how these athletes truly represent all that is

great about our sport and its values. Boucherville will once again be hosting the championship next year, a well-

deserved honor.

The television ads, on RDS, during the Scotties and Brier encouraged a few centers to offer open houses which

were a huge success. Hopefully, more centers will follow in their footsteps next year.

On the national scene, congrats to Team Ménard for their great Brier performance and to Philippe Ménard for his

2nd all - star team selection.

I would like to thank all the host committees of our Elite and Junior Series championships. You made it possible

for our athletes to perform to the best of their abilities.

On an organizational level, our new website is working well and the number of our Facebook friends keeps on

growing. Unfortunately, two staff members left us. First, Claudine, our beloved executive assistant, left to get

work closer to home and to enjoy new challenges. Then our executive director, Marco Ferraro, resigned after

having invested 4 years in this wonderful adventure. Through his efforts, the federation made its presence felt

throughout the province and our members and he brought us back to a more stable financial situation. Godspeed

to both of them.

I must once again extend our deepest thanks to all the volunteers who give tirelessly of themselves to continue to

keep our centers alive. We must find a way to help you. Thanks also to our excellent liaison with the CCA, Mrs.

Elaine de Ryk for these past five years. And finally, thanks to my fellow Board members for their support,

availability and cooperation. May the upcoming season, already at our doorstep, surpass all of your expectations and dreams.

Le curling au Québec progresse. Les affiliations ont augmenté de 4% et on a accueilli un nouveau membre soit le centre de curling des Iles de la Madeleine. Un nouveau commanditaire, la banque BMO, supporte le Festival de curling Inter-Jeux qui aide aux jeunes à se préparer pour les Jeux du Québec. Pour ce qui est des médias sociaux, le nombre de pages vues de la nouvelle version de notre site Curling-Québec.qc.ca a augmenté de 26% passant de 8 932 148 à 11 254 746. Notre page Facebook est la plus populaire parmi les pages Facebook de toutes les fédérations provinciales de curling. La saison 2013-2014 nous a offert plusieurs retours:

xSuite à une perte totale par le feu en 2004, le centre de curling Grand-Mère renait de ses cendres: un

xLa Caravane Curling Québec, animée par nos demi-finalistes au Brier Éric Sylvain et Philippe Ménard, a

visité six centres en Outaouais, en Abitibi et à Montréal.

Seul bémol à cette belle saison est le départ de notre coordonnatrice Claudine Savard après 11 ans de loyaux

services. Elle était grandement appréciée par ses collègues et les membres.

Curling in Quebec is growing. Affiliations increased by 4% and a new centre in the Iles de la Madeleine joined the

federation. A new partner, BMO bank, sponsored the Festival de curling Inter-Jeux BMO that helps young curlers

prepare for the Quebec Games.

On the social media front, the number of pages views of our revamped site Curling-Québec.qc.ca increased by

26% going from 8,932,148 to 11,254,746. Our Facebook page is the most popular among all the provincial

curling association Facebook pages.

The 2013-2014 season was one of returns:

xAfter an absence of 35 years, the Scotties Tournament of Hearts was held in Montréal at the Maurice-Richard

arena. More than 35,000 people attended the competition dominated by the defending champion Rachel

Homan . Congratulations to the organizing committee headed by Cathy Hugues, Kevin Alladin and Francine

Poisson.

xAfter a devastating fire in 2004, the Grand-Mère curling center rose from the ashes. A beautiful three sheeter

with the latest technological advances was built adjoining the downtown hockey arena.

xThe Curling Quebec Caravan, hosted by our Brier semi-finalists Philippe Ménard and Eric Sylvain, visited six

centres in the Outaouais, Abitibi and Montreal regions.

The only sad note is the departure of our popular coordinator Claudine Savard after 11 years of service. She was

much appreciated by her colleagues and members across the province.
