At least 12 hospitals in Thailand's capital, Bangkok, said as of Friday (April 9) they were suspending testing for COVID-19 due to high
demand and shortage of supplies, amid a new spike in cases. The hospitals issued notices on their social media and on messaging apps
this week, some saying the suspension would last only a few days and others giving no date for resumption of tests. Meanwhile, Thailand
on Wednesday (April 6) confirmed the presence locally of the highly transmissible coronavirus variant B117 first identified in Britain. Today

Cambodia is closing its most popular tourist destination, the centuries-old Angkor temple complex, to visitors for two weeks to help curb
the country's COVID-19 outbreak. The Apsara Authority, the government agency that oversees the archaeological site, said that
temporarily stopping local and foreign tourists from visiting the temples is important to help combat the virus. It said in a statement dated
Wednesday (April 7) that visitors are banned from April 7 through April 20. The Health Ministry on Thursday announced 113 new local
cases of the coronavirus and two deaths. Cambodia has recorded a total of 3,028 cases, including 23 deaths. The ministry has traced
the latest outbreak to a foreign resident who broke quarantine in a hotel and went to a nightclub in early February. As the number of
cases rose, the closures were extended throughout the country for schools, gyms, concert halls, museums and other gathering places.
Vaccine Update
The Philippines Department of Health suspended on Thursday (April 8) the use of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 jab for people under 60
after reports of blood clots overseas. The EU's medicines regulator said on April 6 that blood clots should be listed as rare side effects of
the jab, but the benefits continue to outweigh the risks. The Philippines has received about 2.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines so far
- the majority from China's Sinovac. It also got 525,600 AstraZeneca doses through the COVAX programme, most of which have been
administered already. The country expects another 3 million AstraZeneca doses in the coming months.Travel Advisories (new update/s)
