Business French Courses

Enroll in a French course and enhance your French skills and knowledge!

The Business Language Training Centre offers French courses to all HEC Montréal students. Courses in Business French are

worth 3 credits and can count as electives in some programs. To find out more about the course fees and the status of the

course in your program, please contact your program advisor.

The Business French course is divided into 6 levels designed for students who would like to improve their general knowledge of

French, while acquiring some of the essential skills required to work in Yuebec's priǀate and public sectors.

The Business French courses are divided into 6 levels:

ͻ LANG 91508 Français des affaires - Novice

ͻ LANG 91501 Français des affaires - Débutant ͻ LANG 91502 Français des affaires - Élémentaire ͻ LANG 91503 Français des affaires - Intermédiaire ͻ LANG 91504 Français des affaires - Intermédiaire-avancé ͻ LANG 91505 Français des affaires - Avancé

Levels "Novice", "Débutant" and "Élémentaire" are specifically geared to students with little or no knowledge of

French. Verify the schedule in the online tool.

¾ 91508 - Business French Course, Novice

This course is dedicated to people with no knowledge in French. It is an introduction to vocabulary and pronunciation in

French.

No placement test is required. Send an email to david.prince@hec.ca, indicating your name and HEC Montréal student ID

number. You will be enrolled in the Novice course.

¾ 91501 - Business French Course, Débutant

This course deals with basic notions of French grammar. It allows you to communicate orally on familiar topics; understand

short, very simple texts on education, work and the immediate environment; write brief messages using basic management

vocabulary.

This course is for you if:

ͻ You know a few words in French (Bonjour; Merci; je m'appelle...). ͻ You can read, produce and understand only short sentences in French.

In this case, you must complete a placement test to confirm your level. To be enrolled in the online placement test, fill this

This course allows you, first, to understand the essential elements required for clear and coherent spoken and written

communication using everyday French; second, to communicate orally on familiar topics such as your studies, current

events and work; and third, to write basic and coherent texts using, among other things, management terminology.

This course is for you if:

You can understand expressions and everyday vocabulary in written and spoken French.

You have some difficulty communicating, but you can speak on various simple topics related to everyday life, your

family or your surroundings.

You can write short texts in French, but you cannot write a university-level text of more than one page.

HEC Montréal also offers Business French Summer School

This four-week summer program is for HEC Montréal students enrolled in a study program, as well as for anyone who

would like to learn the basics or improve their written and spoken business French. It combines intensive courses in

business French, verbal communication workshops, marketing and management seminars and conferences, company

visits, as well as a number of French sociocultural activities to discover Montréal. The levels offered are from Beginner
