ASSOCIATE IN ARTS FOR TRANSFER DEGREE ?AA?T?

T he Associate in Arts Degree in Child and Adolescent Development for Transfer is designed to prepare students for a seamless transfer to a California State University. ?is option of study is intended for students who aspire to careers in a variety of areas, as teachers of young children, teacher educators, home visitors, child and family advocates, parent-child educators, or program directors, among other options Students who successfully complete the AA-T in Child and Adolescent Development earn speci?c guarantees for transfer to the CSU system: admission to a CSU campus with junior status and priority admission in a program or major in Child and Adolescent Development or a similar major. Students transferring to a CSU campus will be required to complete no more than 60 units after transfer to earn a bachelor's degree.

ASSOCIATE IN ARTS FOR TRANSFER DEGREE ?AA?T?

T he Elementary Teacher Education AA-T is an interdisciplinary program which meets state guidelines in order to prepare students to begin their path toward becoming p ublic school teacher s. According to the Employment Development Department, ele mentary school teachers are among the top twenty-?ve "occupations with the most job openings" in California, with new jobs opening annually. Students who successfully complete the AA-T in Elementary Teacher Education earn speci?c guarantees for transfer to the CSU system: admission to a CSU campus with junior status and priority admission in a program or major in Education or a similar major. Students transferring to a CSU campus will be required to complete no more than

60 units after transfer to earn a bachelor's degree.

T he Liberal Studies - Teacher Preparation A.A. degree is designed to prepare students for transfer to a four-year institution for completion of a baccalaureate degree in Liberal Studies if they are interested in teaching at an elementary school (grades TK - 8).

Career Opportunities:

?is program also prepares students to qualify for the California Child Development Permit with a School-Age Emphasis, which authorizes work in the instruction of children in before-school, after-school, and other publicly funded programs.

T his Certi?cate of Achievement combines the core courses in the Liberal Studies Teacher Preparation AA with ?eldwork in schools. Students who complete this program will be well quali?ed to serve as teachers' aides in classrooms from transitional kindergarten to high school and adult education.

T his Certi?cate of Pro?ciency is designed as an interdisciplinary program for students who wish to explore the ?eld of education. It provides students the required course work to qualify for the Child Development Associate Teacher Permit, with a school- age emphasis. Each course included in this certi?cate is also required in the Teacher's Aide Certi?cate of Achievement and in the Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies Teacher Preparation and is transferable to the California State University and University of California systems

T he Careers with Children and Families Youth Apprenticeship is an innovative inte- grated education and on-the-job training pathway program. It is designed to appeal to youth, currently enrolled in high school, who are interested in professions working with children and families. ?e intentionally designed pathway program serves as an onramp to a variety of careers-- as an early childhood educator, elementary school teacher, home visitor, child and family advocate, child and family social worker, child and family lawyer, pediatrician, child psychologist, and more

12-semester units of Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC).

School Readiness Certi?cate of Pro?ciency that stacks to an AA degree and/or transfer to UC, CSU or a private college or university. Child Development Associate Teacher Permit with a School-Age emphasis issued by the CA

Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Registered Apprentice, eligible to be hired as a teacher's aide after high school graduation and receive integrated supports to complete degree and transfer goals
