GOALS AND GENERAL CONTENT

As a beginner you will learn some familiarand everyday expressions and simplestatements for basic needs, such asintroducing yourself or someone else andhow to ask personal questions (living area,relationships, family...). You will learn howto respond to the same sort of questions.You will be able to interact andcommunicate in a simple way in order todeal with everyday basic situations.

You will learn how to talk about yourself,local geography, shopping, education andwork. You will be able to communicate insituations that require a direct exchange ofinformation on familiar and routinematters. At the end of this level you will beable to describe in simple terms aspects ofyour background and immediateenvironment. You will also acquireconversational language skills to deal withmost social, work or travelling needs.

You will obtain a broader range oflanguage allowing you to communicatemore spontaneously on a wide range oftopics using colloquial or formal French asappropriate. You will be able to speak onfamiliar subjects and in your area of interestand to briefly articulate reasons for orexplanations about projects or ideas. Youwill also be able to describe experiences andevents, hopes and ambitions.

This level is about more complex languageinvolving both concrete and abstractsubjects. You will learn how to putarguments for and against and topersuade. You will be starting tocommunicate easily and able to hold agood conversation with a native speaker.You will be able to produce clear, detailedtext on a wide range of subjects andexplain a viewpoint on a topical issue.

Close to mother tongue standard, you willkeep up your French and use languageflexibly and effectively for social purposes.You will read French literature, talk aboutcurrent affairs and acquire a deeperknowledge of the language. You will beable to express yourself precisely throughunderstanding nuance, differencesbetween language registers and you willbe able to summarise information fromdifferent spoken and written sources.

An initial free assessment gives you the opportunity to discuss your needs and objectives and allows us to recommend the most appropriate course.
