I have a strong belief that electrophysiologists need a strong scientific and professional organisation to educate and certify young physicians, to work with national societies to set the standards of EP care and make those more uniform throughout Eur ope and affiliated coun tries, to stimulate scientific r esearch, to promote exchange of ideas, and to advocate the willingness by health care authorities to pay for proven EP care. This requires EHRA action towards and together with the EP community itself (via EHRA's Committees and via national Working Groups), initiatives to bond electrophysiologists in Europe and beyond, and collaboration as a fully autonomous scie ntific societ y with other stakeholde rs like industr y, other EP societies in the world, national and EU authorities, and the central services of ESC. After a short sabbatical, I restarted my commitment for EHRA with renewed energy as elected Secretary in 2015. If bestowed by the honour of becoming elected President through the vote of my peers, I will devote myself with great enthusiasm to EHRA's and my colleague's missions, as outlined above. 3.Previous experience in EHRA, ESC and National Bodies - EHRA Secretary and Executive Board Member (2015-2017) - other EHRA: chair (2009-2013) and member (2005-2009) of the Educational Committee. Course director of the EHRA Case-based and Simulator Courses 2008-2011, EHRA Advanced EP Course 2013, and EHRA Courses for Affilliated Societies (Egypt 2012&2013; Russia 2013). - EACPR: Chair of the Section on Sports Cardiology of the European Society of Cardiology / EACPR (2010-2012) and nucleus member (2006- 2014). EACPR Board Member (2010-2012) - ESC: member of the ESC Education in Cardiology Committee (2009-2013), ESC Task Force on Education Online (2010-2012) and Planning Committee ESC Education ""Stroke management & prevention in AF" (2014-present) - Belgian Society of Cardiology Board Member (2005 - 2011) - Belgian Heart Rhythm Organisation (BeHRA) Nucleus Member (1995 - present)
