Eligibility

All students (Secondary 1 to 5)

who have received a grade between 50% and 59% in a course.

Purpose

• Secondary 1, 2 and 3: to convert a failing grade into a passing grade. • Secondary 4 and 5: to succeed in a course/exam or to obtain missing credits in order to graduate. • Upon completion of a summer school course, a student will receive a statement of results. • Credits are granted upon completion of the course. Students will receive a MEQ* Achievement Record in

August indicating their final result.

Summer School Classes

From July 4 to July 21, 2022

Morning session: 8:30 to 11:35 a.m. • Afternoon session: 12:30 to 3:35 p.m.

EXAM SESSION from July 22 to August 2, 2022

Course scheduling will allow students to take two subjects whenever poss ible.

Cost per course:

SWLSB students - $330

External (non-SWLSB) students - $450

To register for Summer School

courses or exams, students must bring: • June 2022 report card • July 2022 MEQ Achievement Record (secondary 4 & 5) • Proof of eligibility required for non-SWLSB students

Payment Options

• Online payment by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal • In person by Interac, Visa, Mastercard or cash

Personal cheques will NOT be accepted

Courses must be paid in full before the

start of classes.

Students registered for Summer School courses who

receive a MEQ Achievement Record in July with a passing grade must request a refund by Monday, July 11. Refunds will not be issued for students registered for an exam only. Refunds will be processed towards the end of

August 2022.

A minimum of 15 students is required to open a class. • Courses depend on availability of staff. • Students must provide their own transportation.

Secondary 1-3 courses are ONLINE only.

Instruction period: July 4 - July 21, 2022

Courses available: English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, French as a Second Language. • Courses will be taught using Project Based Assessment (no final examination will be given). • Available to Sir Wilfrid Laurier students only. • Students will require a stable high-speed internet connection. Secondary 4 & 5 MEQ subject courses are held at Laval Junior Academy.

Instruction period: July 4 - July 21, 2022

Exam session: July 22 - August 2, 2022

• All MEQ subject courses will be examined in person at Laval Junior Academy.

Secondary 4

• English Language Arts (ELA) • French as a Second Language (FSL) • Mathematics (CST)* • Mathematics (SN)** • Science & Technology (ST) - theory only (555 410)*** • History of Québec and Canada • Visual Arts Students registered for the Secondary 4 Mathematics CST or SN courses will have the option to write a competency 1 exam. Students who have not previously taken the Secondary 4 Mathematics SN course, but successfully take and pass this course at Summer School, will still be subject to their local school's promotion policies for admission to

Secondary 5 courses.

There is no Applied Science & Technology (AST) course offered. Students who wish to retake the AST exam may register for the ST course and supplement

this with their own study of AST topics not covered.Students in the Laurentians/Lanaudière may join classes virtually. This

option is best suited to students with high levels of autonomy and self-discipline. *

Secondary 5

• English Language Arts (ELA) • French as a Second Language (FSL) • Ethics & Religious Culture • Special Project (2-credit course) • Students who receive instruction remotely will still be required to attend our campus for the exam. • Secondary 4 Visual Arts

Secondary 5 Ethics & Religious Culture and

Secondary 5 Special Project (2-credit course) are taught and assessed online (no final exam will be administered)
