R T he accelerated pace of change in the way trade is being done since the turn of the millennium has now become its cruising speed - and the pace shows no signs of easing up. As these evolutions progress, points of sale are stepping up their crea tive initiatives to continue drawing in customers. As the Presidential elections approach in France (at the time of going to press the ?rst round had not yet taken place) the business situation has been the subject of sustained media at tention, with top billing being given to: gloomy sales staff, a fatalistic population, districts that lack any vitality, and shop fronts with lowered curtains. This represents one reality - but it is not the only one. Physical stores - both corporate and in- dependent - are keeping up with the pace of change and even pulling ahead in order to stay the distance, and the same goes for hotel establishments: these are all evidence of an ongoing drive to keep on adapting to change. T his all takes place against a backdrop of (geo)political uncer tainty and wholesale changes in consumer habits. There can be no doubt that physical stores and the café-hotel-restaurant sector play a key part in the life of a city, and have an active role in creating a dynamic and pleasant living environment. T his, in any case, is the message being put forward by the spe cialised trade federation and that message is supported by examples of districts in which trade plays a driving role. We are in it for the long haul: this much is propounded by a carefully thought-out blend of creativity, positioning in what is on offer, partnership with locally elected of?cials, speci?c geographical features, and initiatives within the point of sale itself. Each territory has its own blend of these factors...and this is the cost of pro?tability.
sur la venue des consommateurs dans le magasin : qu"ils y trouvent du conseil et y fassent des découvertes The town centre rankings, as published at the beginning of the year by the specialised business federation Procos, highlight a growing average vacancy rate approaching 10%. And yet the phenomenon is not a foregone conclusion, says Procos general delegate Emmanuel Le Roch, who emphasises the fact that there are factors that foster vitality in town centres, including retail businesses. We interviewed Emmanuel Le Roch.
Economic protability relies
on consumers coming into the store: they might have an interesting experience there, get some advice there or nd something out." rAux commerçants de se révéler
force de proposition et constructifs par rapport à un environnement anxiogène actuellementIt is down to traders to be a source of
proposals, and to be constructive in the face of an environment that is presently characterised by anxiety."© Ville d"Annecy

immédiate du produit NEWS G v référence également des produits G reenPan is set to present Innity at the next Maison&Objet show in September: a new generation of non-stick coating in Thermolon ceramic. The company-owned technology was developed in Korea, and is reinforced with diamond particles which improves the non-stick lifespan, contributing to better heat conduction and delivering higher scratch resistance. The ceramic coating has been very popular with consumers ever since it made its rst appearance at the end of the noughties, and is an alterna tive to Teon and PTFE which have lost some of their aura in recent years. The issues are the fragility and limited lifespan of some ceramic coatings. GreenPan is a leading Belgian ceramic coating company that is investing in upscaling its products, and bringing to the French marketplace a stainless steel tri-ply collection called Ever Shine Barcelona Pro. Innity features stainless steel, and heats up quicker and more powerfully thus improving the way food is cooked. The product also features anti-colouration treatment, which means that the brilliance of the stainless steel lasts much longer. Ever Shine Barcelona Pro is already exclusively available at William Sonoma (USA). Public price: 69.90 for the pan (ø 20 cm). In France, the range is for specialist retailers such as Alice Délice, La P"tite Cocotte, Bazar Avenue and Toc/Kitchen Bazaar where the brand already has a presence. GreenPan also stocks entry-le vel products among specialist outlets, at Boulanger for example. Greenchef products are reserved solely for mass food retail outlets, and will soon be making an appearance at Monoprix and Leclerc. ḜᰜNEWSBÉATRICE BRANDT
