CHORRO VALLEY SHOOTOUT 2021SASS WESTERN REGIONAL

By Roger Rapid, SASS #96080 Photos by Doubleshot Darlin, SASS #70752 O h, give me a home, where the buffalo roam, where the deer and the antelope play... an old and friendly lament of the once open and wild west. When you get about as far west as you can go and still be standing on land, we still have buffalo, there are plenty of deer, and over the past 15 years or so, herds of antelope have flour- ished in the great California plains.

California is also the home of The

Chorro Valley Regulators — host of the

annual SASS Western Regional/Chorro

Valley ShootOut every August. Located

just nine miles from the Pacific Ocean, as

the crow flies, the weather at the range is as good as it gets with cool mornings and moderate afternoons.

“We were excited to see so many

shooters getting back into our sport this past year after a brief hiatus from match es," said Sinful (SASS #73672), CVR"s

Match Co-Director. “We had almost 270

shooters register for the Western Region- al, which was better attendance than our previous Regional."

Ruthless Rodg (SASS #100071),

our Vendor Co-Coordinator, said, “In addition to a good turnout of shooters, there were 19 vendors this year, and one even showed up with a bunch of primers.

Boy, he sure was busy for a while! I was

happy to see the vendors were all pretty busy. That told me they had the kind of goods our attendees were looking for."

With a focus of keeping the posse

size comfortable and efficient, we orga- nized 18 posses that averaged about 15 to

16 shooters each. Just the right number
