The sub- ject fields included In the study were weather and climate, desert coastal zones, geomorphology and surface hydrology, surface materials, vegetation, fauna, ground-water hydrology, and desert regional types.Separate

the
Office
of Arid LandsStudies
has continued to compile information on recent developments in arid-lands research, under a follow-on contract with the US ArmyNatick
Laboratories.
The purpose of this contract is to continually up-date the information ob- tained under the earlier contract and to provide the Army with the re- sults of a continuing review of the scientific literature. Such an effort can expedite current research within the Army and reduce the possibility of duplicating work that has already been accomplished.
