Welcome

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to warmly welcome you to

the SoFL 1 st

International Language-for-All Conference (LFAC)

to be held on 21 - 22 October 2022 in Çukurova University, Adana, Turkey. The event will take place for the

first time to bring scholars together, to explore the latest trends and challenges in the field, benefit from the

network with leading members of academia from all over the world and exchange ideas and precious experiences.

The world is going through an era in which people are facing global-wise and country-wise issues in education

- an ongoing pandemic of Covid-19, inadequacies in adapting to the new mode of teaching and learning,

insufficient digital competence, lack of appropriate resources, and reluctance to transform deep-seated constructs. These issues triggered our motivation to hold this conference.

We aim to rediscover the depths of language as a seed of change to convey messages from past to present and

future by gently exchanging ideas, raising awareness and increasing motivation to share and embrace one another's world.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Emeritus Prof. Dr. Stephen D. KRASHEN

Emeritus Prof. Dr. Stephen KRASHEN completed his Ph.D. in Linguistics at UCLA (1972), and is currently

an Emeritus Professor of Education at the University of Southern California.

Krashen is the author of more than 525 articles and books in the fields of bilingual education, neurolinguistics,

second language ac quisition and literacy. He has received numerous awards including the Mildenberger Award (1982), given for his book,

Second

Language Acquisition and Second Language Learning

(Prentice-Hall), the Pimsleur Award, given by the American Council of Foreign Language Teachers for the best published article in 1985, the Dorothy C.

McKenzie Award for Distinguished Contribution to the Field of Children's Literature (Children's Literature

Council of Southern California), a Doctorate of Humane Letters awarded by Lewis and Clark College,

Portland (2011), and the "Kenneth S. Goodman in Defense of Good Teaching" Award, College of Education,

University of Arizona, 2019.

is a member of the teaching staff of the ELT Department of the Faculty of Education, Çukurova University,

and currently, is the Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Vice-Rector of Hakkari University. His interest

areas cover Applied Linguistics, EFL and English Language Teacher Training. 9 Cem BALÇIKANLI works as a professor in the ELT Department of Gazi University in Tu rkey. He taught

Turkish in the University of Florida between 2008 and 2009 as a Fulbright scholar. He has been the editor in

chief of the Journal of Language Learning and Teaching (www.jltl.org) since 2011. His professional interests

include learner/teacher autonomy, the role of technology in language learning/teaching, and second language

My name is Andrew Bosson

and I have worked for over twenty-five years as an educational professional. I

have occupied various roles in this time, including several years managing both a Teacher Education and

ESOL department in an Adult Education College in England. I currently te

training sessions for teachers in Turkey and around the world. I very much appreciate these opportunities to

share my ideas and learn from colleagues. 11

Formats

The abstract may not have more than 250 words in length. Contributors are expected to outline a clear

framework of their study and what they are going to present in their session. The abstract should include 3 - 5 keywords, all of which are written in lowercase letters.

Poster Format

40-minute poster viewing session will include poster presentation, informal discussions, questions and

answers.

Poster presenters are required to use A1 size and include their names and affiliation below the title of the

study. Visuals such as pictures, charts, photos should have clear labels and references if needed. The texts in the posters should be written in APA format and referenced.

Word count should be between 500 and 1000 words.

No equipment or computer will be provided.

Full Paper Format

Title and abstract

Please give your article a brief and clear title; use Times New Roman 12 pt. centred and bold. Begin your

article with an informative abstract of no more than 250 words summarizing your main points; use Times New

Roman 10 pt. and single line spacing. Put 3

-5 keywords conveying the main content of your study below your abstract.

Authors

All authors will be listed on the first page below the title of the article; use Times New Roman 10 pt. centred.

In the case of multiple authorship, names will appear in the order in which contributors provide them. The

affiliation(s) of the author(s) should be indicated in the footnote by adding their country.

Format

All papers should be written in APA 7 format and consist of 4000 words long at most. Besides, the papers

should be submitted in MS Word and 12 font size format only.

Headings should be short and subheadings should be used in order to be clear. Paragraphs should be Single-

spaced.

Tables and appendices should be included in

the word count, but the abstract and list of references may be excluded.

Visual data, such as tables, diagrams, and charts, should be labelled and numbered properly in your paper.

Margins of the pages are: Top 2.54 cm, Bottom 2.54 cm, Left 3.18 cm, Right 3.18 cm.

List of References

Please give full bibliographical details of references and list them in alphabetical order of author, following

the APA 7 format. Page numbers for journal articles should be truncated where possible. However, no page

ranges are required for books.

Evaluation Process

All papers will be subjected to

double-blind peer reviews, evaluating the accuracy and appropriateness of

relevancy, method, findings, results, implications, ethical conduct and so on. They should be clearly and

coherently written so that the contents are internally consistent. Papers that are accepted will be published as full paper in the Conference proceedings.

Academic Ethics

The papers submitted to the conference should deliver original and unpublished findings. Thus, plagiarism

cannot be tolerated and in case of plagiarism detection, the papers will be excluded from the conference

program.

The language of the conference is English.

For each paper/poster, regardless of the number of authors, each participant is required to pay the registration

fee.

For each extra paper by the same author(s), participants are required to pay 50 % of the registration fee.

All accepted papers are expected to be presented by at least one author of the paper. Delegates can choose any of the options given above to participate in the conference.
