This industry includes establishments

primarily engaged in manufacturing household furniture of all kinds and of all materials.

It also includes upholstery, cabinet making

and furniture repair shops. However, firms primarily engaged in the manufacture of bed springs and mattresses are not included in this industry. The main categories of prod- ucts are: living-room furniture upholstered or not; bedroom furniture; dining-room and kitchen furniture; phonograph, radio and television cabinets; children's furniture; porch, garden and lawn furniture; etc.

A number of establishments classed in

other furniture industries (Office Furniture,

Electric Lamp and Shade Industry and Miscel-

laneous Furniture Industries) also manufac- ture household furniture as secondary prod- ucts: Table 14, in this report, gives total shipments of household furniture in all the ftirn tive itdirri :

Cette industrie comprend les ètablisseinents

qui s'occupent principalement de la fabrication de meubles de mènage de toutes sortes et de toutes matires. Elle comprend aussi les ateliers de rem- bourrage, d'èbènisterie et de reparation de meubles. Toutefois, elle exclut les etablisseinents s'occupant principaleinent de fabriquer des soniniers et des ma- telas. Las principales categories de produits sont les suivantes: meubles de salon, rembourrès ou non; meubles de chambre a coucher; meubles de salle manger et de cuisine; cabinets de phonographes, radios et tèlèviseurs; meubles pour enfants; meubles pour porches, jardins et pelouses; etc.

Un certain nonbre d'ètablissements classes

dans d'autres industries du meuble (Industrie des meubles de bureau, Industrie des lampes èlectriques et des abat-jour et Industries diverses du meuble) fabriquent aussi des meubles de inènage come pro- duits secondaires: le tableau 14 du present rapport donne les expeditions totales des meubles de maison on provenanc de tie- les indiist ries du rneuble.
