Ferenc Liszt International Grand Prix du Disque

Regulations

The Ferenc Liszt International Grand Prix du Disque was established in 1975 by the Liszt Ferenc

Society.

Aims:

· Calling the attention of the international professional community to the Liszt Ferenc Society and

to the promotion of Ferenc Liszt"s spiritual legacy, as well as to the musical life in Hungary;

· Positioning the Liszt recordings published on the international disc market in the centre of

interest, in their entirety; · Calling the attention to Hungarian Liszt-recordings, and in connection with that to Hungarian performers and Liszt-research. The prize is awarded yearly, in the following categories: a) solo piano works for two and four hands, works for two pianos b) works for orchestra, concertos and piano works with orchestral accompaniment c) organ works d) vocal (also with orchestral accompaniment) and chamber music works, melodramas e) remake discs (archive recordings remastered with the latest technical enhancements) f) transcriptions

The jury accepts and judges discs that were released in the year previous to the year of the

announcement.

The application deadline is April 30

th in every calendar year, with 4-4 copies of discs (LP, CD, DVD)

Application is open for:

Disc publishers and performing artists, discs in private edition are also eligible. The jury works in committees according to the above categories. Jury members are recognized experts

of the Hungarian musical life, assigned by the Board of the Liszt Ferenc Society. The committees judge

the discs submitted in the different categories and make propositions for the prizes to be awarded.

The chair of the jury participates in each committee"s work, and takes the final decision in case of any

controversy. 2/2 The jury takes the decisions every year by June 30 th, recorded in official minutes. The Liszt Ferenc Society informs each participant of the results in writing by July 15 th.

The winner disc publishers and/or performing artists are invited to the prize giving ceremony, which is

held in connection with Ferenc Liszt"s birthday (October 22 nd).

The Grand Prix du Disque is a bronze plaque with the portray of Ferenc Liszt, a Diploma of Honour and

a "Grand Prix du Disque" label applicable on the discs, as well as publication of the result in the October

issue of the British musical review Gramophone in form of an advertisement.

The result of the jury"s decision is also published on the homepage of the Liszt Ferenc Society

www.lisztsociety.hu, as well as on Facebook (www.facebook.com/LisztFerencTarsasag).

Prizes to be awarded: in each category more than one prize is available with proper reasoning, each of

them is a Grand Prix and a Diploma of Honour.

Judgement considerations:

musical expression, fidelity to the original sheet, individual tune, artistic performance, outlay of the

information leaflet, quality of graphic design, and the technical level of the recording.

The jury"s written decision is open for each participant, and is available at the Liszt Ferenc Society.

If there are less than 5 discs submitted for the Grand Prix in a certain year, the Liszt Ferenc Society

postpones the judgement of the discs to the next year, with a written notice sent to each participant.

In such cases, the jury simultaneously judges the discs submitted in the two subsequent years.quotesdbs_dbs42.pdfusesText_42
