Law Society (TLS) Advocates" and some Law Firms Directory to you. TLS has undertaken the duty of publishing a unique Directory that focuses on legal service perspective. The main intention of publishing the TLS Members" Directory is public including legal sector stakeholders, business, international organizations, government, non-government organizations and and areas of specialization. This directory will be available in both hard and soft copies free of charge. Hard copies will be disseminated to various institutions such as Ministries, Airports, E.A.C, Foreign Embassies, Law Societies, Regional and International Corporation, International Hotels, Law School, The Judiciary of Tanzania, Immigrations and all website: www.tls.or.tz to allow members of public to access the same. 8About The Faculty of Law
The Faculty of Law of the Open University of Tanzania (OUT) is one amo ng the five faculties and two Institutes of the University. The Faculty ofLaw offers
degree and postgraduate courses through blended (face-to-face and e-lea rning through moodle platform). All academic programmes offered in the Facult y are duly accredited and quality assured and centrally regulated by the TanzaniaCommission for Universities (TCU).
The Faculty of Law has its Headquarters located off-Kawawa Road - Kinondoni Municipality, Dar es Salaam City at the University's Headquarters. A ll faculty programmes are operated through a network of about 30 Regional Centres i n Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar (Unguja and Pemba). Learning and doin g of examinations takes place in all 30 regional centres and about 30 Examina tion and coordination Centres inside and outside the country. The Faculty has students from several countries at its centres in Kenya (Egerton and Njoro), Namibia (Windhoek) at Triumphant College, Malawi, Uganda, Nigeria, Gambia, Libya, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and several other countries.Academic Programmes
The Faculty of Law offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes. Currently, the Undergraduate Programme offered is the Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B) Degree programme. The Postgraduate Programmes include Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL); Master of Laws by Course Work and Dissertation (LL.M C&D) in any field of specialization, Master of Laws by Thesis ( LL.M Thesis), Master of Laws in Information and Communication Technology Law (LL.M ICTL), and Master of Laws in International Criminal Justice (LLM ICJ).
The Faculty is in its final stages of securing approval of the TCU in order to begin offering Master of Laws in International Trade and Investment Law (LL.M ITIL) and Master of Laws in Land Administration and Management (LL.M L AM). Undergraduate programmes aim at equipping new and continuing students with broad and comparative knowledge of the general and specific scope o f law subjects under broad framework of common law legal systems for the benefit of persons and institutions in the United Republic of Tanzania, the East African Community and beyond. Postgraduate programmes equip students with advanced and comparative legal knowledge on specialized skills aime d at promoting, facilitating and disseminating the results of advanced stu dy and research in the discipline of law. The faculty has a blend of academic staff leading the programmes offered and these staff is professionals with reputable academic qualifications and diverse career background. The Faculty has further high number of its academic s taff pursuing PhD studies abroad and In-Country as well as those who are due to return from studies. Students therefore have the opportunity to tap to a diverse and vibrant legal pool of both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes which will make you stand out in the competitive market. Dean of the Faculty of Law Dr. Rindstone B. Ezekiel remains confident that once you join the Faculty, your journey in your studies here at the Faculty will be momentous and i nspiring as we remain committed to providing excellent education and support to o ur students. The Faculty has a Coordination Unit for Postgraduate Studies and a Coordination Unit for Undergraduate Studies and Research. The Faculty also offers free Legal Aid Services through its Legal Aid Clinic as part of theUniversity's Corporate Social Responsibility.

ABOUT TANGANYIKA LAW SOCIETY
The Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) is the Bar
association of Tanzania Mainland. TLS was founded in 1954 by an Act of the LegislativeAssembly i.e. the Tanganyika Law Society
Ordinance 1954. The Tanganyika Law Society
is currently governed by the Tanganyika LawSociety Act, Cap 307 R.E. 2002, which repealed
the earlier legislation and has been amended from time to time. Section 4 of the TLS Act provides for wide range of TLS objectives which include the inward looking objectives and the outward looking mandate, 1.1Mandate on TLS Membership
to represent, protect and assist members of the legal profession in Tanzania as regards conditions of practice and otherwise; to maintain and improve the standards of conduct and learning of the legal profession in Tanzania; to facilitate the acquisition of legal knowledge by members of the legal profession. 1.2Mandate to the Tanzanian Public
to protect and assist the public inTanzania in all matters touching, ancillary
or incidental to the law; to maintain and improve the standards of conduct and learning of the legal profession in Tanzania; to facilitate the acquisition of legal knowledge by others. 1.3Mandate to the Tanzanian Government
and Judiciary to assist the Government and the Courts in all matters affecting legislation, and the administration and practice of the law inTanzania;
