Love is like the Twitter bird
We're blue for him, only for 48 hours
Carmen-Stromae Page 3
First we meet, then we follow each other
We fall apart, and we end up solo
Take good care of yourself
And of everyone you love
The plastic smiles are often hashtag-attacks
Take good care of yourself
Oh friends, pals or followers
You're making a mistake, you just have the numbersTake good care of yourself
If you love yourself
Take good care of myself
If I love myself
Take care of us, take care of them, take care of yourselfAnd then it's all for themselves
This is how we love each other, love each other
Everyting is only being used, used, used
This is how we love each other, love each other
Everyting is only being used, used, used
This is how we love each other, love each other
Everyting is only being used, used, used
Love is born out of consumption
She always always always wants more choices
Supply and demand for one and the same low
Take good care of yourself
But I already know the dangers
I've given my ticket and I can trade it if I need toTake good care of yourself
And if it must be I'll avenge myself
This bird of misfortune, I'll put it in a cage
I'll make him sing myself
Take good care of yourself
Carmen-Stromae Page 4
If you love yourself
Take good care of me
If you love me
Take care of us, take care of them, take care of yourselfAnd then it's all for themselves
This is how we love each other, love each other
Everyting is only being used, used, used
This is how we love each other, love each other
Everyting is only being used, used, used
This is how we love each other, love each other
Everyting is only being used, used, used
One day you're buying, the other day you're loving One day you throw something away but the other day you're paying You'll see that one day we all will love each otherBut first we'll all perish like rats
Stromae, in an interview with TimeOut New York:
Carmen-Stromae Page 5
In the opera Carmen [composer Georges Bizet] compares a bird to love. In my remix of it, I'm comparing love to the blue bird of Twitter. Like, you fall in love only for 48 hours or something, and I talk about that in my song. I'm not so radical about Twitter, but I think it's sometimes dangerous if you think that Twitter is real life. Stromae's ͞Carmen" interpolates the Habanera aria(a.k.a. ͞LΖamour est un oiseau rebelle") of the 1875 opera Carmen. Stromae's lyrics are based off this popular stanza of the opera͗L'amour est l'enfant de Bohême
In the English Carmen, this is:
Love is a gypsy's child
It has never known the law
If you love me not, then I love you
If I love you, you'd best beware!
On April 1, 2015, the music video for ͞Carmen" was released to coincide with April Fool's Day to emphasize how modern love is starting to become more and more a joke.quotesdbs_dbs29.pdfusesText_35[PDF] carmen opera chanson
