Culture of Language

Two sentences both of them can use in same meaning: May I introduce myself? and Can I introduce myself? Asking permision politely and try to say "May I......" or "Can I......" "May I......" more polite than "Can I......".

The word

" May I introduce myself?" and "Can I introduce myself?" have the same meaning and can use in place of each other. We usually use this phrase to call attention from the one we wish to introduce, or we would like to let him know politely that we wish to introduce ourselves at that stage. To ask a permission, we always begin with "May I...." or "Can I......" The word "May I......" is more politely than the word "Can I...." 18
