02 important challenges that cities must face. The CAF Group, which has more than 100 years of experience in the mobility sector, is aware of this and offers its customers a wide range of products and services with high added value.

CAF is one of the international

benchmarks in the design and implementation of comprehensive mobility systems. Its capabilities include the system design, civil works, signalling, electrification and other electromechanical systems, rolling stock supply and operation & maintenance of the system.

In terms of rolling stock, CAF designs,

manufactures and maintains high speed trains, regional and commuter trains, locomotives, metro units, tramways and buses.

Consortium, is responsible for the supply

and maintenance of the new trams for

Canberra´s new light rail line. This line

is 12 kilometres long with 13 stops, providing a corridor between the areas of

Gungahlin and the centre of the Australian

capital.

The new fleet, which is composed of

14 Urbos trams, is 100% low-floor. This

eliminates any passenger barriers along the whole tram. In addition, boarding and alighting of passengers from / to platforms located at a similar level to sidewalks is extremely comfortable.

The units are equipped with necessary

equipment for future installation of two

On-Board Energy Storage modules

(OESS), which will allow the trams to run along catenary-free sections.

AND COMMUTER TRAINS

CAF has extensive worldwide

experience in supplying regional and commuter trains. Our trains feature highly standardised equipment and service-proven solutions, reducing the environmental impact and improving citizens´ quality of life.

To meet the specific needs of transport

authorities, CAF has developed its

Civity solution, a range of high

performance trains designed for regional and commuter services. These trains can be customised for all types of operations and passengers.

Civity platform includes trains with

different types of traction based on a single concept of a modular, low-floor vehicle. Civity trains are available with the following types of traction: electric (EMU), diesel-mechanical or diesel- hydraulic (DMU), diesel-electric (DEMU) and bi-mode (BMU). 06 awarded Momentum Trains, an international consortium comprising

contract to supply, and maintain for 15 years, its new regional train fleet.

CAF"s scope in this project comprises

the supply of 29 regional multiple units, two simulators and the construction and equipment of a new maintenance facility in Dubbo, 400 km north-west of Sydney.

In addition, CAF is also providing equity

financing.

The first new trains are expected to

be in commercial operation by 2023, with the full fleet coming into service progressively.

With this project, the NSW government

sets out to replace the old regional train fleet with new trains to improve passenger safety and comfort for regional and intercity rail services from Sydney to the cities of Canberra,

Melbourne and Brisbane.

Programme, CAF supplied 57 EMUs to

Auckland Transport between 2014 and

2015. These were the first electric trains

operating on the commuter rail network, improving transport capacity and providing a faster and more frequent service. In 2017, the operator awarded a new contract to CAF to supply and maintain 15 additional trains.

CAF Signalling, a CAF Group subsidiary

for railway signalling solutions, is supplying ETCS & ATO on-board systems to equip these EMUs. The

AURIGA OBS ERTMS/ETCS is a

compact and modular system, based on CAF Group´s proprietary VEGA HW platform and a SIL4 2oo3 architecture, with reduced dimensions, low power consumption, flexible architecture and minimum wired I/O.

The AURIGA OBS ATO solution is

designed according to ATO over

ETCS standard's last draft versions

and includes additional features improving the operation over ETCS

Level 1 as well as to support automatic

operation without a continuous radio communication. The implementation of the ATO system allows the operation optimization, energy saving and improvement of passengers" comfort among others.
