WELCOME TO EAST LOS ANGELES COLLEGE

Welcome!

Students, faculty, staff, and community—all are welcome at East Los Ange les College, your learning community. The heart of an institution is its peo ple. This is especially true of ELAC. People count. Usually the two reasons students select ELAC is location--the campus is convenient to more than

1.5 million homes—and low cost--the best educational value in the commu

nity. But once students start attending classes, ELAC"s instructors become the primary reason they return semester after semester to complete their education. ELAC professors are committed to teaching students how to learn and prob lem solve. The classroom experience is enhanced by a comprehensive net work of support services that assist underprepared students to succeed: stu dents have access to hundreds of computers in the writing center, math and science tutoring programs and classrooms; non-credit programs help students prepare for college-level coursework; and many student clubs and organizations provide supportive peer groups that enhance the ELAC expe rience. A dditional student services include e x cellent counseling and nancial aid assistance, active university transfer and career centers, child care, student government and special interest clubs, and excellent academic and voca tional programs across a wide spectrum of interests. Belonging to ELAC is more than just attending classes. Please join our fam ily by connecting with our ne programs and services. Graduation contin ues to be the inspirational high point of my year. I am looking forward to shaking your hand as you cross the stage at the spring commencement. “Start at ELAC" begins when you enroll—but the second part of our promise, “Go Anywhere," comes after you earn an associate"s degree and continue on to a university or productive career. No matter what your goal, ELAC people are ready to help you on your way.

Go Huskies!MARVIN MARTINEZ
