The aim of this activity is for children to practise using coordinating conjunctions in sentences. There are seven questions to complete. The first four questions allow children to practise the skill, while the next three questions extend them as they have to apply their learning to get the answer.

Vocabulary:

A conjunctionis a word used to join two clauses. There are different kinds of conjunction such as for time (e.g. after), place (e.g. where) and cause (e.g. because). A coordinating conjunction is a word used to join two main clauses together in a sentence. The main clauses must make sense on their own. There are seven coordinating conjunctions: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. A main clauseis a group of words that make sense on their own. It has a subject (the person or thing that does an action) and verb (the action). For example: Adam eats bananas.
