Roadshundredsofacres of oldfarmfields satidle.Conelly's idea wastosubdividethepropertiesintolarge lots and help the landowners sellofftheiracreage nottofarmers, but tocityfolkswhowantedtobuildhouses in a country atmosphere.Conellystarted afilecalled"Walton Hills:During the next

sectionofBedfordTownship.Hesavednewsarticlesandfeaturestoriesthatappeared inTheCleve/andPress,
TheC/eve/and News, TheP/ainDea/erandBedford Times-Register,hisConellyReallyfliers,letters and papers and DonFlora's1956aerialphotos of sections ofWaltonHills.Conelly's
fileincludedtheweekly "Up inWaltonHillswithCountryJane"columnsthatappeared in theBedford77mes-Registerfrom1949-1963.Theseuniqueandlengthyarticles documented the livesofvillagersduring

War DischargePaperandotherWaltonfamilyrelicsandcontinued tocollectpertinentmaterial. In 1980sheturned everything over to JoeMazzone, and he too continued toadditemsoflocalinterest In1985VirginiaMazzone, Joe's widow, gave thescrapbooks to Jean andBobKainsingerforsafe-keeping, andthecollectionkeptgrowing. The few villagers who knewaboutthisuniquecollectionofhistoriclocalitems feltthepapersshouldbestored inapublic place,readilyaccessibletoeveryone. Our currentVillageHallCommunityRoom,completed in 1972,hasnarrowhand-craftedshowcases and deep hand-craftedcabinets. Forthefirst16yearstheshowcase were not used and the cabinets held an addassortmentoftrophies. In 1988aCouncilcommittee askedJeanKainsingertodecorateandfill-up theshowcases
and cabinets withitemsoflocal interest. Bob andJeanKainsingertransferredthescrapbookmaterialintoacid-free pages, assembled them into4albums,anddonatedthecollection totheVillage.Thehistoricitemswerefinally on display in apublicplace.With approval from
theVillage,theWaltonHillsHistoricalResourceCenterbecameareality in 1999.Ever since,
asmallgroupofvolunteersstafftheWaltonHillsHistoricalResourceCenter.Residentscontinue to donate photos,letters, articles, old mapsandotherrelies to theHistoricalCenter,andtodaytheCommunity Room show cases andcabinetsarepacked.an.a...9..p 11Origins of
