The holder of a diploma of this specialty:

Knowledge

Understands basic concepts of his/her profession from English to Greek. Identifies the parts and the operation of machine tools (numerically controlled or not).

Shows the function of basic electrical circuits, automation systems and the operation of electrical machines.

Presents his/her work using a computer (drawing software, electronic office suite). Arranges the necessary materials, tools, instruments, and machines in a production procedure. Interprets a technical drawing and an accessory in a sketch.

Describes the basic properties of materials, integrates the main properties of the basic materials in the needs of his/her work.

Skills

Extracts results from simple calculations (volume measurement, unit conversion, etc.) and resolves simple trigonometric and geometric problems.

Operates both conventional and CNC machine tools, including the code for the digital guidance of machine tools (ISO 6983).

Uses instruments for technical measurements (callipers, micrometers, rulers, etc.). Processes materials using tools (manual and power).

Handles his/her electronic correspondence and uses an office suite for simple applications (issuing of tenders, reports, clientele, etc.).

Manufactures an object (simple or composite) from a drawing issued to him/her, selecting the suitable tools, instruments, and devices.

Creates programmes for digital guidance in CNC machines. Provides first aid in the event of minor accidents. Calculates the cost of a production and can rearrange functions and processes in order to reduce it. Handles any wastes created, both in solid and liquid form. Organises his/her work site, keeping it orderly and clean during work.

Competences

Understands the importance of applying the safety regulations on the protection of employees, of the work site, and of the environment.

Sufficiently assesses the conditions during work and selects the best possible solutions.

Acts both under the instructions of an engineer and autonomously, within the framework of responsibility that applies to him/her from the applicable law.

Looks for the latest information and data in his/her profession, by revising his/her initial knowledge.

The machine tool numerical control technician is a skilled technician able to perform autonomous, responsible and

timely work that arises during the processing of different objects in CNC machine tools and especially in tone and

milling.

Ɉhe Vocational Training Diploma is recognised as a qualification for appointment in the public sector falling in the

category S.E. (Secondary Education) according to the Presidential Decree no.50/2001 (Greek Official Gazette

39/Vol.Ȱͬ5-3-2001).
